Dean
Selwyn, his partner Leanne and their two children made some life
changing decisions in March this year. Early in the month Dean and
Leanne were married and then celebrated their first steps together
as a family by purchasing their first home at Kingsway, Quedgeley.
The house is just one of the 150 plus affordable homes to be developed as part of the Gloucester Housing Market Partnership (GHMP) this year. Of these, eighty five homes have been built to be sold on a new build HomeBuy basis. The scheme which allows low income households to purchase on a part buy/part rent lease prioritises social tenants.
Previously the couple had lived in a flat owned by Gloucester City
Council. This means that as well as being able to help the Selwyn
family buy a home of their own, the local authority has been able
to house another family in the flat they moved out of.
